Maybe this sounds like a crazy thing to under take but does anyone know the ins and outs of fitting a 1jz into the engine bay of a ke36 panelvan. I'm sure they fit into early celicas so why wouldn't they fit into the cavernous engine bay of an early corrolla

Are you nuts?? Take a look at a 1JZ some time and you will immediately come to the conclusion that it won't even come close to squeezing into a KE3x engine bay! Not without chopping a big hole in the firewall anyway.

Geez, seems like people want to put 1JZ's in just about everything these days! Smile

Besides that before you start you may want to look at the engineering requirements.

I think youll find that you can only have a capacity of 3 x the maximum weight of the production vehicle. A KE3X probly only weighs around 800Kg im guessing there fore maximum capacity would be 2400cc

The 3x rule applies to atmo engines... for turbo engines it's 2.5x, which means you can only put a 2 litre turbo in an 800kg car. No 1JZ for you!! Smile

A friend of mine has put a 1g-ge into a KE-35 coupe.
It is a very very tight fit, a 1jz wouldn't come close to fitting without a firewall setback.
