Is there any merrit is seam welding a chassis in a TA22 celica, does it help handeling?, does it cause problems elsewhere?, Has any one done it for a performance reason.

When do you decide it needs to be done ie when you reach a certain horsepower.

Sorry for the questions, just want to know if i should look into this avenue.

In the TA22, STITCH welding isn't really worth it because the A pillars just end up twisting too much! The only place that could do with some welding is around the rear swing arm mounts on the under body!
A full cage with side intrusion bars is the best way to limit flex. I will be getting a full cage in my TA22 in a few months time.

Well you can still have an everyday car with a full cage but forget the back seat!
I have spoken to 2 engineers about stitch welding the TA22 and they both said that the weak point will then be the A pillars.
So in your case I would forget about it!
