A guy I know has done it in an RA23, which would be much the same as an RA40. To answer your questions in order:
- hard.
- lots.

One of the guys in the Canberra Celica Group has just finished his 1JZGTE into an RA40. He stayed Auto due to dollars. He used my IGGTE into RA28 as a guide. He picked up a wrecked Corona Avanti 2.4 litre, which gave him an EFI pump in tank, and larger main fuel line, he also got the disk brake rear end. Had to fabricate engine mounts, and gearbox mounts. Runs the standard Computer from the engine package. Runs aftermarket air filter, and press bent 2.5 in cat back, and hits the fuel cut defender real easy. ie. making max boost as determined by factory computer 14PS1.

Drop me an email if you want specfics, cost etc.

Regards Chuck
