they didnt honour me as a listed driver on my parents insurance, so i had to start at 0% NCB

I don't like your chances at all.

Young
Turbo
Modified
Licence suspension

I wouldn't expect much change from $3.5-4k?

hmmmm.... Got a quote from Vigil today for the same sort of car..

24yo, 1 speeding fine in the last 5 years, 1 at fault accident.
Asked for 50% ncb & they gave me a quote of $2,100ish a year.

Speaka - where the hell do you live to be getting $2700 with 0% ncb??! Shocked that's awesome!!

Paul, you should try dawes @ www.dawes.com.au
Dawes do not care about minor speeding fines nor suspensions due to the accumulation of such fines. The Dude there even said to me that he thought people who drive fast were more likely to be watching where they were going !!!!

They are however very picky about at fault accidents.

Try dawes, especially if it is not going to be a drive to work car.

A suspension will rule you out of modified car insurance for a number of years.

Dawes insure me ( with a few reasonable conditions) for just over $1000 pa. for unlimmited modifications of my jza70.
I have had a suspension in the past 4 years. but no at fault accidents (touch cyber-wood).

Matt

Laughing @ B(aghdad)anskstown Laughing
Not quite - I'm in a nice suburb, but it's near Liverpool & shares the same area code unfortunately..

I'll give Dawes a buzz Matt, but I think last time I tried them they flat out refused as I'd had one at fault acco in the last five years.. Sad

I've found one other mob that looks a bit cheaper than Vigil, and that's Classic Car Insurance. I don't think they're going to honour my previous ncb though, so thta puts me back near square one.

anyway.. this thread wasn't about me!!! Laughing

Exactly. Who cares about speeding tickets... you can be insured with a company for 10 years, have 50 speeding tickets and lose your license 5 times... and you know what? It won't cost them a cent.

If you are insured with someone for 10 years and have a history of accidents (even just one!)... that's what the insurer would baulk at... because accidents are what cost them money.

Even third party fire and theft might not be a bad plan if you can get it for a modified car. They (RAC) only do it for cars up to $5k, but $5k is better than nothing if some bastard takes a liking to it, and good if it only costs a few hundred a year instead of a few grand.

your right man, it's not funny,

monday morning some drugged out peice of shit broke into my house and stole all my stuff other than the TV, they got into the rocket which was parked in the shed.

so now i have put it into security storage in case they come back for it.

so it will not be driven for months until i can move house.

C*%TS

and to add to what you were saying, its getting to the point where i feel like yelling out take a picture cause it lasts longer. dont kid yourself LES, assholes will steal anything, even your asshole is some countries.

MOSS purchased a cressida from a stolen recovered which had the dash and loom stolen out of it. jeee i wonder why they stole a cressida to take that out of it.

they were probably doing a conversion i would say.

I cant believe a car enthusiast would do that to another car enthusiast... not once you know how much a car means.

as a kid I used to have fun putting potatoes up car's exhausts, and letting down the tires.... now I look back and htink how I'd feel if that happened to my baby

that's my main worry about getting one - immediately all stealth is gone.

of course you can get them painted black - which is my plan
