if you're planning a 'mad-max' style switch then forget it.
the clutch will burn out in no time (like a week) if you were to switch on the supercharger at say 4000rpm.
the only reason it has a clutch is to disengage it at idle.

i was thinking more like switching it off all together for daily use to and from work and hwy use. swith on and off only at idle.

if you were light with the throttle like mrs joe average and her 1.6 kids it would give better mpg than a std car thanks to the more efficient burn you'd get with the 4.5psi that the std blower gives (if you were to use the 1GGZE pulleys that is).
it would improve your swirl no-end, which is why these blowers are a great retro-tech fitment onto older 2 valve and non-crossflow engines, because the cylinder filling is improved upon.

onejayzed, what's your experience with switching the blower on and off? Was gonna do this to a recent AE86 conversion I've done for someone, after he asked after it, can it be done successfully? Can he run the the motor with out the blower operational, or will that blow the clutch too?

no it won't blow the clutch.
think of it like a normal clutch, if your engine's doing 4000rpm and you ride the clutch to get going (and there will be resistance on the blower because it has to produce pressure) you will have no clutch left soon.
but if you run your car with the clutch disengaged, it won't destroy the clutch, but you won't get anywhere fast either
but what's the point of driving a car with a supercharger disengaged? the restriction would be horrendous, it would end up spinning the supercharger anyway to the point where it would provide just enough air to feed the engine, (and be a slug in the response department) so why not drive it and produce boost? it uses as much power to run as an a/c compressor, but gives back a shitload ( i think they're only underdriven by something like 9% or something....well under holden's shithouse attempt at 18%)
i'm retro-fitting one onto my L18 in my 180B with a draw thru 45DCOE and an off-throttle switch.

Yep, my thoughts too, but he wants it so he'll get it done! My turboed celica returns 9 - 9.5L/100Kms on runs where the boost runs around 1-3psi at 110KM/h under constant load
