anyone had this prob with their s/c? Wed, 10 September 2003 06:48 Go to next message
since if been driving my sprinter with the gze (hadnt been driving it much cause it wasnt tuned) ive needed to put in like 100mls of oil every week or two. ive had it on the hoist and there is MINIMAL oil leaking from the s/c, so my assumption is its getting into the engine somewhere. has anyone had this prob and if so was it just a seal? i hope so.
also im using mobil synthetic engine oil in the s/c and running 15psi boost.
thanks.

i dont know if it helps but my ge does the same thing but much worse... ive benn told its either the piston rings or the valve stem seals... from what i know they are pretty much the same block and internal layout accept for the pistons...

maybe try a compression test to see if the rings are hammered...

it sounds like seal problem... unless........are you still running the line from the inlet manifold to the three 5-6mm tails at the end of the blower ( sticking out of the end bearing / gear housings ) ???? These are there to equalize the pressures / vacuum in the blower and the bearing housings...otherwise it will suck oil from the housing into the blower under vac conditions and try to blow it out of the housing under boost.
regards, kevin

NVD05X, its not an engine related problem as the s/c is a seperate unit from the engine in regards to oil.

kmwdesign777, this is interesting, i will try to have a look for these hoses when i can next get the car on the hoist. i hope this is what it is cause i really cant be bothered taknig the s/c off it looks like a major pain while its in the car Sad
