Hi Mate, I have a VVTi 1JZ-GTE, and there is nothing out there except for basic info from sales brochures for MKII's etc.
Cam belts are available through Toyota!
Turbo from what I have been able to discern is a CT20B.
Compression Ratio 9:1, whoo hoo.
VVTi, looks at a heap of different parameters for its operation, so a factory computer would be the best bet to get max efficiency out of the VVTi. I personally would use an interceptor (Unichip Apexi) to modify fuel and ignition, if you're after more KW's
Most aftermarket computers do not have the finness to accurately control the VVTi through its entire operating spectrum.
2JZ-GE flywheels WILL bolt up to the 1J.
Injectors are NOT side feed, which opens up a heap of scope for cheap bigger injectors (eg. 13B Rotary).
Ray Hall Turbocharging has recently completed a 2JZ-GTE conversion into an IS200. Check out ZOOM or HPI for his story and contact details. Give me a yell if you need more.
regards Chuck

I thought the 1JZ VVTi used a CT15B turbo... could be wrong though. Very little info about those engines around.

CT15b is the one
Try this in Babelfish for a few more details and turbocharger specs - expect to toss the turbo out earlier than a TT 1JZ-GTE as it's apparently more limited in it's capability and is still ceramic

Chuck
What is your VVTi fitted into?
I have my engine now and have unpacked it. There is a lot of differences between it and the normal 1jzgte motor. I have one of them in the garage as well so can compare them directly to each other.

That's what I am trying to find a diagram for as well.
Apart from the VVTi wiring there are more pins than the previous 1JZ I wired up.

How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?
And from where?
Half cut? or just engine and box?

Just couple questions lol.
What does the on woit the VVT come out of.
And does any type of variable cam/valve timing such as VVT or VTEC make it harder when modding to high HP numbers?... just something I heard....

VVTi 1JZ-GTE comes out of the 1996+ Soarer and I believe Mark II and Chaser.
I have also heard that the VVTi makes it harder to get more power of later in the game, and people seem to just disable it to get around the complexity. Only what I've heard though.

Paid $1600 incl freight to Toowoomba.
Yes, they are a bit tricky when chasing big HP. I won't be modding much as the standard power is almost double what it is replacing (1G-FE VVTi @ 114kw). Perhaps just a boost lift to about 10-12psi, that's all.

FWIW,
C-Red in Perth are selling JZX100 half-cut for $4,500. Wish it had been around 6 months ago.
