TrueTrac LSD into MA61 Thu, 11 September 2003 03:29 Go to next message
OK I have the diff but can't afford to have the car off the road for more than a weekend.
The problem is that the bearings on the diff center are different to standard MA61 LSD.
I need to look at a standard diff to exactly what the difference is and buy the correct bearings before I pull mine apart.

Does anyone in northern or north eastern suburbs of Melb. have one in bits or know where I can get one cheaply. MA61 diff that is.

Thanks

Go to the CelicaSupra forums and do a search; from memory someone posted the exact bearings you need to make it fit.

I'd be interested in the price also as about to do an F series diff conversion on the RA28 and think the Torsen/Truc-trac would be nice.

Maybe a group buy is in order?

Thanks for all the help
Not sure of exact price yet due to exchange rate but it should end up about $850 with bearings.

If any one is serious about getting these I can probably help out.

On a different note has anyone had dealings with ICHIban.
Good or bad to deal with.
Looking at getting a 1UZ.

Thanks again.

ichiban arent bad, but not very negotiable on prices. engines may or may not come with loom and ecu (never seemed to have an ecu when i went looking). their engines seem to be in very good condition though, and are all tested.

diff: id prolly be keen at some point to get a trutrac - depends on what price and how soon anyone wanted to organise something.

cheers

I'm definitely getting a new diff in the next few weeks (noises from the back of my car are giving me a not-so-subtle hint), and if I'm going to all the trouble of pulling it out I might as well get a TrueTrac instead of fixing up the existing centre and hoping for the best. If a group of us can organise something at the same time, all the better!

$850? So tempting, even just for the Corona...

Get a set of RA65 gears while you're at it dude Smile

Hear you got the intercooler fixed, good work!

I'll buy RA65 gears the minute I find them... Brisbane wreckers are a hopeless bunch though.

Intercooler is fixed as good as it can be fixed, but I still can't drive the car "properly" until my shiny new rice-valve arrives. Sad

Norbie split the monster intercooler in half, but just had it repaired. Laughing

Correct, and my theory is the factory BOV is to blame (it's either too small or isn't working properly any more), hence the acquisition of a rice valve.
