Heya folk, Newbie here... hehe.
I am a far cry from a machanic so I would apprieciate some help here.
I would really really like to get an after market Cruise Control system fitted to my 98 Corolla Conquest, only it's very very expensive.
Does anyone know where I can buy a compatible after market system, preferably wholesale, and where I can get detailed instructions for installing it?
Thankyou! Dom.

Go to your local auto accesories/parts shop, they should have something to fit the bill quite nicely. Yes, it is quite possible to fit cruise control to a manual car, you just add an extra cancel switch to the clutch pedal.

I've been to Toyota parts/accessories and they refer me to 3rd party companies who want to charge me a hefty $500 or so.
I'll keep an eye out for a gerneral autopart store, I'm no so sure what I'm looking for tho. Can you give me some names of places preferably in the north shore/hills or eastern suburbs?
Thanks a ton!
Dom.

cruise control kits start at around $200. There are basically two types one is universal and involves fitting magnets and a pickup on the tailshaft/driveshaft and the other is for more modern cars and uses the computer tach signal as a reference. If you can go for the more sophisticated kit as fiiting the magnets can be a pain. I have installed two aftermarket cruise kits on to a v6 manual Astina and the other to a v6 camry manual. You will need a second cutout switch for the clutch pedal.
