1GGTEU Redline

Hey guys,
I noticed the other thread about the 18RG redline, and it got me thinking. What is the redline on the 1GGTEU?
I understand that the ECU cuts out at 7200rpm, and from what I can gather by looking at my mates GZ20 dash, it goes red about 6800rpm.
My curiosity comes from the dash out my car. I've come to work out, that the dash is from a Celica XX 2000GT, with a 1GGEU. It goes "soft" red at 7200rpm and goes "hard" red about 7700rpm which I'm assuming is the cutout. Why would Toyota have "lowered" the redline?
Thanks,
Nathan

turbos running out of puff at such high revs maybe?
if you are not making any more power, then there is no point in revving that high anyway. When i got mine dynoed it dropped off at about 6500 or so from memory.

Cool, maybe its just cos of the turbos. Would high-flowing them mean they could just handle more boost? Or would it mean they would be able to hold boost till higher in the rev range?
