4AGE Rev Limit? Fri, 12 September 2003 06:41 Go to next message
Hey Guys,

Im just wondering what everyone revs there Red Tops/100kw to? Ive read/been told that they make peak power a little over 7k? And should be able to do this day in and day out?

And would reving this high cause a big end bearing to go?

7000 is fine, they'll do that all day. Speaking from experience, 11,000 on stock rod bolts ends up nasty, though Evil or Very Mad

lol Smile I bet that would be enough to make it throw a leg outta bed!

Is there any merit to the claims that the standard valve springs start to float at 8000rpm?

Phil

i've heard of guys in japan putting carbies on stock Bluetops and revving them to over 10,000... that's gotta say something about their strength!!!

... and as for the 8000rpm valve float theory, i'd say that they could take quite a few more rpm than that considering the stock fuel cut is 7750rpm...

my 100kw 4age has a rev cut of 8500rpm and it sounded more like an ignition cut than fuel... it starts to get a bit of valve noise at about 7000rpm though so maybe my valve springs are a bit worn too...
