Was told today (by a questionable source) that ball bearing turbos are not rebuildable. Is this true?? Do they not need rebuilding as often??

Basically yes. you need to replace the cartridge to do the job properly, last time I priced a T28, they were $950 just for the cartridge, making the turbo about $1700 ish to rebuild. Also at that time I could buy a new roller T28 for $1350, while a brass T28 was $1950ish.

also, whats the difference between a roller bearing turbo and a ball bearing turbo??
