I have a bit of a problem with my standard KE55. When you go to start it, all's well with the starter motor etc, however when you turn the key back to the "on" position, it kills the ignition. With the starter engaged, you can rev the engine, indicating to me that the coil, plugs etc are operational. My first thought was a faulty ignition switch, howevere when I replaced this with a known servicable unit, there was no difference. When in the "on" position, there is bout 0.15v getting to the ignition side of the coil. Any ideas?

Aha! Problem solved. Dead ballast resistor. Who would have thought? Not me, first time I have come across this little delight.
