icon4.gif  complete electric fan cooling system setup - make an offer! Mon, 15 September 2003 10:45 Go to next message
Ok i have managed to find myself a new cooling system. So my old bracket and fan setup is for sale. It includes a bracket that bolts EXACTLY up to an ma61 radiator. It includes a 14" and 10" fans, which would cool most if not any performance motors/ 5mes. I can get pics, but itll be a while. Wilbo666 has seen it, and was rather impressed also.
I am open to prices, but ill make a clear point that it is not in need of a shroud, it bolts flush with the radiator, so works as efficient as any fans with a shroud. Upon interest, i may sell the radiator with it, so its a complete cooling system for someone, not just an ma61.

Asking $190 or best offer.

P.s the 14" fan is new, and cost $220.

tell me more...

what kind of fans?
4 blade or multi blade (ie like davies craig)?

what's the 'shroud'? does it cover the remaining surface area of the radiator, or does it simply enclose the fan blades? ie: how much radiator free surface area is there left with fans installed?

where does it attach to on the ma61 radiator?

how 'deep' is the assembly?

is there a thermo switch?

obviously photos would be good, but in the meantime, can you descrbe as above?

cheers
ed

Re: complete electric fan cooling system setup. Mon, 15 September 2003 12:08 Go to previous messageGo to next message
ok here we go

The 14" is a multi blade one...about 12 blades or something..is a flat bodied type...78mm deep! Its NEW (ok maybe 10 hours use!)

The 10" is a 4 curved blade type off a nissan pulsar. It is not new, but hasnt been used much. its a deep bodied one.

Theres no shroud needed. The fans mount flush with the radiator..i emphasise the point "flush"

Thers all the space of the ma61 rad around the fans. The bracket ive made, bolts onto the toyota bolt holes for the radiator, i made tags on it, so no fabrication whatsoever is needed to fit it into any ma61.

depth of the assembly? Well the 10" fan is the deepest part of it, which would be no more than 130mm. these measurements include the bracket. But that depth point is only for about a 4" circle of the motor! Put it this way, its a lot thinner than a ma61 clutch fan shroud

no thermo switch as they werent hooked up thermally...

not relaly on the topic, but how much did that 14" fan cost you?
I'll be looking for a thermo or 2 soon, but not to mount to a stock ma61 radiator unfortunately

you could always modify one of the tags...the ma70 rads not that different that u couldnt use it...The 14" fan..price is unknown, as it was given to me by a close mate. Tho it sucks/ pushes an absolute shitload of air. I cant imagine it woulda been cheap..

Re: complete electric fan cooling system setup - PICS ADDED! Tue, 16 September 2003 12:30 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Ok so you can see the mounting points ive made for it. The tiny bit of rust is off handling, and sitting in my garage for a few months, and will come off with a single rub of sandpaper. If it makes a difference i can have it painted black before you buy it.

modded core doesnt matter ed, the mounts are on the side of it, not the top/ bottom. as long as you have the strip along the side of the radiator with the factory holes still there, its useable.

nah - ive got a 3 core mate, and the core is much thicker than usual. the way that mount works - with the fans being so flush, and mounted to the sides, makes it not do-able

I may be interested, what sort of condition is the radiator in, is it way too wide to fit into an ra28, as i haven't looked closely at an MA61 radiator before

hey mate..rad is in perfect nic other than about a 3 in scratch in the core from where i removed the old clutch fan, and a couple of other minor scratches
The radiator is 660 wide...so see how wide your space is! the ends of the bracket come out to 700 wide.

I might be interested in the larger of the two thermo fans, depending on it's thickness

you dont have to use the bracket...it was just part of the package...the fans bolt off. So im sure if u needed to, you could use the fans seperately?

hmm, i'll have a measure, but i think 78mm is too deep....
my radiator has been moved forward 1/2" at the top and 2" at the bottom, and the 9" DC fan fits with maybe 1cm to spare to the w/pump pulley (i's hard up on the radiator). i could maybe fit a 10" DC, but that's about as deep as i can go Sad
stoopid old cars Wink

if it was a KE20, i'd have arms and legs of space!!!!

i still can't believe that you have a perfect setup, ready to bolt in.. and still no takers? what do ppl want out there Wink it even comes with a radiator!!! hmm maybe if i took off the bumper and removed the front valance, and cut the radiator supports completely out.... and put battery in the boot.... then it might fit Wink

ill leave that last part to you, your car - whatever tickles your fancy!
but the 78mm is from the very front of the frame, right to the point in the centre of the back of the fan....so the majority of the fan is substantially thinner..
