That's the factory location for the aircon pump on 18R-G's. I don't think there are any specific legal requirements for aircon pumps.

The 18R-G aircon pump is completely different to the 18R-C item. Its like a mirror image since it sits on the other side of the car!
That said, i do have two sets of brackets for it, and one pump. Although they are all MINE!

Even though the 18R-C is a mirror image it's still possible to hang it off the 18R-G???? Or will it be all backwards and a pain to hook it all up?

I tried to mount my 18R-C pump on the 18R-G bracket, but it's not even close. It could be done if you're willing to mod the bracket I guess.

Firstly, the 18rg one is much smaller than the 18rc one.
The mountings on the 18rc one are on the other side of the compressor than the 18rg one, this would make like very difficult.
The 18rg has a small, cylindrical pump, I have seen similar ones in wreckers with similar mounting points to the 18rg ones.
I think it would be easier to find a cylindrical, small compressor from another engine than to adapt the 18rc one.
All your piping will need to be modified too, as the 18rc piping does not reach the 18rg compressor position, so you may as well just do the whole thing.

I was having a look at aircon pumps on mirages at work yesterday and I reckon they would be ideal, but I don't know how much they would cost from a wreckers, probably heaps. But they are a really good size and mount on the correct side of the engine.
