hi guys.
at the beggining of next year i will be looking for a new car and i just wanted to put this up to let that those of u with cars that i have listed below that may be interested in selling, what i am looking for and that u could have a potential buyer if u r looking at selling you're car at this time.
i'm looking for a ta22, ta23, ra23 or ra28 with a turbo motor. i don't mind what i'm just looking for something thats really sweet, as i don't have the time to do something similar to my ta22 which my bro will buy.
i'm in qld but would be willing to travel to nsw for a really nice car.
so just keep me in mind if u r thinking of selling or whatever.
cheers simon

hi bogstocka, i live in Canberra and recently was stopped at an intersection when i looked in my rear vision mirror to see the bonnet of a red TA22. It had a chip in the paint and i didn't think much of it so i just drove through the intersection with the intent to have a look at it as it overtook me. However after doing the usual cancelling my indicator (the boss kits gay) and having another look in my mirror, i couldnt see it! Then from my right i heard what must have been atleast 100db of 'supersonic type 3 BOV' expelling 15psi of boost. It had 17 inch DTM merc style rims on it, and it was dumped on it's arse, and i mean dumped. The reason i didn't notice the big intercooler when stopped at the intersection was due to the fact that it was too low to see! So of course i followed it until he stopped, before hastily ramming him with millions of questions. It ran a 3T with i reasonable sized turbo (can't remmember excactly what) but he said he had a T04E lined up for it. It had the works done to it, pretty much everything Jamie (MRTA22) has done to his. It had the full Autometer equipped interior in it, and the engine bay was very neat. Ohh and the i asked him how he got it so low, because i KNOW TA22's can't get that low without something being chopped, mine on the bumpstops can't even get that low (no i don't drive it around on the bumpstops). He informed me that he removed his bumpstops and had new shorter ones made up, so it can go lower than with bumpstops, but still retain all suspention travel. I didn't question him, he seemed to know what he was talking about. Anyway, he said he will sell it if the right price came along. I have some pics of it, and even a short bit of footage of him ripping it out of a mall's carpark. ohh it has run an 12.5ET. If you want pics of it i can e-mail them to you. Unfortunately i lost is number, but i know where he gets work done on it, so i usually stop by to see if it's there. Next time i see it i'll make sure i get his number for you.

BTW simon - how much are you looking to spend for this future car of yours ?
YOu know you could probably pick up a RX& with a 13b non turbo for less than 5 grand - or get a ta22 with a 2tgeu in it and supercharge that - like 4sfed?
you could also pick up a fully sic excel with go faster stickers and more plastic than pamela anderson for less than $8k too !
Hmms - If things go right for me - Ill be in the hunt methinks for a ta22 or a ra28 with a 3tgTe in it.. Oooooooor i May just have to do another engine swap for the mighty redbeast
Remember though if your looking for a turboed celica - that they have the diff and GB to back it up. Personally i wouldnt touch a 3tgte thats still running stock diff, stock t50 gearbox and stock brakes - cause they start to really complain and grumble at around 200 HP of power ( think shorteded commodore LSD + better brakes too )Plus u and i both know what the ta22 brakes are like even with our current cars - ie SHIT - shit shit shit !
im sure someone out there has a 3tgte ta22 celica - with LSD and the front brake upgrade for less than 6 grand - if so - ill be looking too in about 6 - 12 months time
Stuart R33 Skyline GTS-T, Celica GT4, or a 3tgte celica - HMMM

all depends

it all depends on how much i make over in the states. but i'll be looking for a celica or an rx of some sort but i'd prefer a celica. dont' worry i wouldn't touch anything unless it had a brake upgrade diff and a supra box cause i dont' want to have to put that stuff in 1) don't have the time, 2) dont' have the cash to get someone else to do it.
by the way u know how much a clutch is for the ta22 mines on its last legs so i'lll have to replace it soon.
simon.

My gearbox - Um - dunno - It needs a throw bearing , and as far as i can tell syncro and bearing between gears 1 and 2..
Probably see how much the parts are + maybe look at rebuilding the necessary bits - or - if its not budget wise - source another ..
