I'm after the right angle piece that screws onto the end of the speedo cable and into the gearbox.

the casing on mine is broken off where it screws into the gearbox, so I may be able to use the different parts to make one good one. hom much do you want for it? can you send it COD?

i don't think you need it.
take the elbow bit off and try screwing the speedo cable directly into the gearbox... i think that is how mine is connected cuz the exhaust guy totally fucked it up.

I'll try screwing the cable directly into the gearbox.
does anyone know how standard this part is? My box is a manual is there any other more common Toyotas that would have the identical part?

you should be right. i'm about 99.9% sure it will screw straight in.
i don't know how standard the part is, but i'd had to try and find one.

Yes the speedo cable does screw straight in.
I just did all of this with my 88 Supra (GA70) with 1JZ conversion.
The part is the same throughout the auto/manual boxes.
I got a new one from toyota because i simply couldnt find one at the wreckers, ended up costing me $130.
The cable does however screw directly in, unsure of how long that would last tho.

Ill give it a go if I can unscrew the old peice out of the gearbox, the thing's a tight as a nuns nasty.
does anyone know approximatly what year the 7m powered cars swapped from a speedo cable to a sensor? It's not really important but then Ill have some Idea what year the 7m I've got was made.

I'm having trouble getting the speedo cable to start screwing on but I think it will work.
For anyone who is interested you can find the identical elbow on:
8/82-12/86 tercel AL2x, 6/83-12/86 corona ST141, and 9/80-4/85 cressida MX6x
