Has anyone ever bothered to bore out a 22RE? If so what to and was it worth it?

american forums would be the place to look, 'cause they dont have access to the 1g-gte as easily as us.
for the cost of a rebore on the 22r, you'd be well on your way to a 1g conversion, which would make you a much happier man

Boring the block ain't worth it. Even if you overbore it 1mm (and you probably can't safely bore it much further than that), you'll increase swept volume from 2366cc to 2418cc. A full rebuild and a new set of pistons just to gain 52cc? I think there are better ways to spend your money.

general opinion is the 22r is a bit of a money/time waster if you're after good power figures (I used to own an RA65 celica - power monster the 22r aint)
