Dash lights in TA23 Tue, 16 September 2003 15:13 Go to next message
Heya guys,

Just went for a drive and noticed that the iterior of my car was a little darker than usual, Speedo & all guages were lit properly and the CD player was on, then I realised that all the environmental controls(fan, heater etc...) wern't lit up. Now I'm guessing its either a fuse or there is some small globe somewhere, which of these 2 is correct, or is it neither Rolling Eyes Any help would be appreciated, on my parents car SV01 we've got the same problem so solving it would be great Smile .

Thanks,

Nath

I after installing my mates headunit in his Camry, the environmental controls weren't working. Looked through the fuses and couldn't find anything (There wasn't a fuse just for those controls anyway, it was for all of the instruments). I had to pull out the headunit again Mad so I could get behind the heater controls. There was a wire running to the back of it that goes to a tiny bulb on a plastic bevel. I simply had to twist it and the plastic part with the bulb inside slid out. I pulled out the bulb itself, it had blown and was black, so it was simply a matter of going down to Repco and buying a new one for about $1.50.

Hope that helps!

Alchemist,
There's a plug behind the heater control for the lights. Make sure it hasn;t fallen out.. Theres a notch cut out on the right hand side of the plastic cover. Undo that, and behind it is the globe. Then pull out the black plastic covering. Bare in mind there are no screws holding any of this in. Theres a 2 pin female plug thats plugged into the back of the black plastic section. Iv'e tested the plug many times on that car, it gets a healthy 12v when on, so I promise you it's not that. It's the black plastic surround. The wire connecting to the black plastic is very short and could do with lengthening, as I'm pretty sure that this puts pressure on the male plugs on the back of the surround... This will be the problem. Always was on that car.. !!
