Hey guys. Just wondering.....
How much would I be looking at for a decent clutch for my 7mgte? Talking about installation and everything, not just the clutch itself.
Cheers

$650 for the clutch, Not sure on labour its been a while since i got mine done, about $250 from memory. And you might as well get a new rear main oil seal whilst the box is out.

The last clutch I got for my old 7m/R154 was a 5 puck Exedy $280 + $30 to machine the flywheel and pressure plate.
No idea on labour charges, I don't trust any mechanics to work on my car.

Nice. Ok thanks for the info. I have a brass button cluth on the car atm but I think the pressure plate is standard. Here is what the deal is:
The driven plate/clutch plate/centre plate on your Supra has been upgraded to a 5-puck brass button item. The pressure plate has been modified and has a higher clamping pressure than factory.
And now it is dead. Getting it fixed tomorrow, just wondering what sort of price I was looking at. Dont have all that much money.

You bought Leighs supra right?
If so, that's my old gearbox & clutch, which was working a treat whilst I had it.

Yeah that's the one. It was really bizzare what happened really.
It was making this pinging noise under load. The only thing we could think of that would make that noise when it was happening was the clutch. So I was driving EXTRA careful until I could get it looked at. Then last night came home from work, everything is fine (cept for the noise). Back the car up the drive to give it a wash, everything fine. Then about 2 hours later, get in to go to movies and it's horrendous. Sounds and feels like the clutch is only half engaging so just scraping across the gears. A little nasty.

That's almost certainly a problem with the clutch hydraulics, NOT the clutch itself. I suggest you take it to a clutch specialist and get them to have a look at it; I wouldn't trust a mechanic to diagnose a problem like this.

Oh. Ok. We have it booked into the Pittwater brake and clutch specialists tomorrow. Hopefully they will know what the problem is. Will mention that to them. Thanks
