Well, I am a very happy person now! Turns out my clutch didnt need preplacing or anything. Took it into Pittwater Brake and Clutch specialists and they had a look at it, fixed the problem and phoned back to say they had fixed it. All within 6 hours. What is even better is that it cost me a big fat $0.
Thanks guys!

The master cylinder had some adjustment thing? I don't know.. my car doesn't..
anyway, it was keeping pressure in the hydraulic system and keeping pressure on the clutch, so it was as if the clutch pedal was partially depressed all the time ![Sad](images/smiley_icons/icon_sad.gif)

So it was a problem with the hydraulics? What a surprise!

I am having some issues with my new clutch, and i think it is adjustment related.

Basically he said that the master cylinder was "wound up" so that the clutch was half engaged the whole time. He just "wound it down" and works fine now. Cannot tell you the details sorry. He said it was like a five minute job though.

More than likely he was referring to the threaded adjustment on the master cylinder pushrod (ie the bit that goes between the clutch medal and master cylinder).

Nah, unlikely. It possibly had some minor pitting that might have gone unnoticed. Did you hone the bore before you rekitted it?

That in cabin threaded rod simply adjusts how much free play the clutch pedal has. There should be 1-2 cm (or whatever the manual states) of free play at the pedal before the clutch starts to disengage.

It is about now that I should be saying "I told you so" and you should be saying "thankyou"
