Just got back from Jamboree!

First day is over now. Was awesome!
Highlights that i remember.
Rotormaster ran 7.64 @178mph
Online CRX ran a 9.73. Fastest FWD
Rigoli WRX wagon ran 9.21 with a shaky launch. Fastest WRX.
Croydon GTR ran an 8.55 which i think makes it the fastest street GTR in the world! just checking to see what the veilside car has run now.
There were heaps of sweet soarers and supras in the show and shine but only one raced. It was a black soarer with a t78 and it didn't hit boost for ages and was rather dissapointing.
There was a Gemini with 1g that ran an 11.98!
That is all i can remember. More from me tomorrow.

forgot to mention that i am extremely disappointed that i couldn't race in my Corona. It would be so much fun! I don't think my car would be fast enough though. I mean there was a turbo swift running high 11's!

spent today there - dominated by rotary madness and R3x's. were a few left toyz left (and the gemini with the 1G-GTE!) but the surviving celica was rotary powered i think. Kirk? bassaholic55?
The GTRs sounded frightening (lots of cars being driven up to limiter and beyond) - plus there were a few rotaries with racing g/boxes letting them flat shift (keep foor flat to floor during gear change) and sound more like an F1 car...
There seemed to be a few guys with rotaries stuffed into old datsun utes and they took off like apes with their arses on fire. Plus a turbo moke (with fluffy dice attached to mirror) that ran 12's !
The few 'rolla's hung in for a while - but i think the over-powered-mini-ute thing is the go? Maybe i'll get an old mazda 800 ute and stuff the 1G-GTE in it?
took pics (film) of the morning session - i'll try to post a selection once they're developed and scanned.
recollection? lots of overpowered, wheel standing, rotary powered monsters (plus the skyline rocketships). Standing near the finish line was frightening and awesome.
afterwards? i have a headache and all i can smell is burning rubber and petrol. i've either had a good time, or it's all a dream and i'm in casualty after having an accident
Cyaz,
Charles

I was also wondering what engine was in that TA22? It didn't sound like a rotor to me.
Did anyone see the engine bay of the Gemini with a 1g? It ran an 11.44 on Sunday which i was very impressed with! Just wanted to see what sort of turbo setup he was using.

There was a celica there with an sr20, if that's the one you were referring to.
black one with a big front mount.
may have been an ra23, though, not a ta22...

I spoke to the owner of the black TA22 for quite a while, nice bloke. It was running an SR20DET and he was actually dissapointed with the results on the weekend. He said it usually runs high elevens but he was only managing low to mid 12s all weekend. The slicks wern't exactly the best on it. Awesome day, i reckon the highlight would have to have been PAC Performance's new 20B MX6. On only it's 4th(?) run Rocky bungled the launch slightly then it just sat down and pulled it's way to a VERY health 7.84!!! Awesome, you had to see it, when he stuffed the launch it actually launched as hard as all the rest of 'em, but then it just sat back and bolted and the whole crowd just went crazy! I'm so annoyed i didn't get PRO-10Z ready in time, owell, there's always next year! I'm looking forward to being RXEngineering's feature customer car, can't wait! I look forward to running against some of you guys next year.

i wwent both days as i am a very avid drag racing nut.
i have 470 photos from the weekend and a few vids, can anyone host these for me in maybe a .zip or something, i'll be able to split it into categories; toyotas, girls{lots} , ect ect.
i got a some good pics of the SR20 TA22 under full power at 1/2 track, ,he lost the final cause he missed 3rd, we were pissed.
Theo woollets 1/2 track burnout in the R32 GTR was sic, bouncing off redline from 60 foot al the way thru as well, i got a vid of the 1/3 track burnout too.
seeing a rex pull a 9.13 149 mph in the final on sunday was good too.
Rob Baracs Tweety EVO 3 was on a record pass on his last pass but he flatchanges to 4th and over revved it ad fucked up.

yeah i don't know too much about the old celica models but it looked like a 22 to me
BTW how good was the typing on those first two posts! I was absolutely PISSED stumbling around my mates place doing weights and drifting on GT3! I was happy with the typing anyway.
My car will definitely be ready by next jamboree, i was hoping that it would be ready this year but as always things didn't go to plan. Somehow, i don't think my little budget box 1jz corona is going to keep up with your 9 second car though!
Anyway, when my car is going on the road properly we really should organise a meet at a test and tune night!

Anyone see the tidy purple MK1 escort.. with a 4AGTE! I'm not a ford fan, but it was a very nice conversion.
Even more strange was the 4AGTE powered Morris Minor, running mid 12 second passes!
I think the 1G gemini was on street tyres too ! awesome performance
