Ok, so anyone here seen the new clutter that is on Beville, (CBF'd with spelling right now), RD?
Yea, looks like some polly has just moved on out to our area and had their yuppie vision turned on.
But anyway, I spoke to one of the council guys a couple of weeks ago, (I frequently walk around there several times a week), and he said it's to stop people from speeding. Apparently a wide open road encourages speeding while taking that nice two lanes per side road and neutering it to one lane per side it supposed to slow down cars.
Well I can tell you, it's failed. If anything I want to go faster, it's like a pre-defined track that has a new surface to boot. Plus it's a wicked rush to side the car around the corner then floor the loud pedal to haul it inbetween the traffic islands while staying in the one lane. I'm now going MUCH faster up French's road then I was before after coming around the corner. I finally have a good place to practice cornering on that I never found anywhere else.
EDIT: And the fact there is no marked pedistrian crossing anymore either is furthering the encouragement to speed. Gotta love yuppie vision. Looks good, but doesn't do what it was intended to.

Yeah it's funny that. Some years back just near our house they put in these horrid speed bumps. While they do deter traffic from the road, you would hate to be living on the road. All these people speeding up and down all day long. It would definitely have made it a louder road to live on. I dont get it......

Yea, I hear that.
I always slow right down for the speedbumps, I hate those frigging things, chicanes are MUCH more fun. Luckily I have a silent car, you'd hate to have frequent street DJ's coming past all the time. And that one guy that every suburb has that insists on riding a harley with no muffler, you want him gone ASAP, not slowing down for speed bumps.

I love chicanes. Anyone who lives in perth and know's Eighth Rd will know its the ultimate for hooning. About 1.5km's and with around 6 really, really fast chicanes. It's signed at 60 but its great fun hooting through there at 80 or faster. Mate in a very nice modded rex went through there at over 100 one night I believe. Can't wait till I can take them alittle faster then in my current auto pos
