Eastern Creek Off-Street Drags, Wed 22nd October. Mon, 22 September 2003 22:33 Go to next message
DATE: Wed 22nd October
TIME: Meet at 2pm, or anytime from 3pm at Eastern Creek

MEET LOCATION: Meeting at Blacktown Maccas, cnr Sunnyholt Rd & Third Ave, Blacktown. The one just near Quinzos. LEAVING AT 2:30pm

COST: $45 for you and your car, $35 for extra driver.
General Admission:
Adults $15
Students 13 -17 $10
Aged & Disabled Pensioners $10
Children 12 & Under Free
Members Car Park Fee $10
Tender Vehicle Car Park $10

**For each car entered you are allowed a pit crew of one person.

INFORMATION: For those who want to make a full day of it, we will be meeting at Blacktown Maccas (the one at Third Ave/Sunnyholt Rd) at 2pm, leaving at 2:30pm to get to the creek at around 3pm for when they open the gates for scrutineering.

For those who can't get there until later, you can just show up anytime until 7pm (i think) or until the limit of 200 cars is reached. To meet up with the group, please call myself on 0404 094 895.

If you just want to spectate, feel free to come along at anytime, and be a pit crew member for someone or just a general spectator.

Actual racing starts around 4:30-5:00pm. From the last time that Toymods went along, we got around 3 or 4 runs up until 6-7pm, and then another 2 until most people left at 9pm. Event closes at 10pm.

------------------------------

Don't feel like you can't compete, just because you have a slow car - just do it for the fun of it! It would be awesome to see heaps of Toyota's out there, doing their thing and us having heaps of fun!

Also, if you are a member - there are a couple of very achievable records to be broken. Check them out at the RECORDS PAGE.

See you all there!!

No.

No.

No.

It's not a track day, it's off street drags... ie: Quarter mile runs.

hm, 3 weeks to get my baby back on the road.
definitly doable... I'll just forget my thesis Smile

seriously, I might be there with my car, minus the respray (multi-coloured panels and all). and with wussy 215 rubber, so I'll be expecting massive traction issues if I do make it

I got my new front wheels today yay Laughing

Next I need to get me those front runner tyres and a racing harness and I WILL be there.

That picture from Dubbo is a beauty - and the only non Toyota in the pic still got caned by the quicker Toyotas on the day and it was packing a 454ci Chevrolet (that's over 7.5 litres Shocked).

If I get the 18RGEU sorted I'll be there...

How about all toymods entrants pooling their spare diff centres?
I've got 1 or 2 in the garage

What exactly are the cars scrutineered for? (ie engine No.s matching rego papers?)

UPDATES! Meeting location selected.

see the other thread Rod posted

Easter Creek - who's going?

since there area few details there. Basically just to make sure your car is legal and you arent going to die driving 400m. Don't forget you need all your rego papers and engineering certificates.

CRAIG - yes, once you have paid the $45 you have parking, entry etc. The other costs are for if you are a competitor. See u there buddy!

Well i should be getting some new 205's to go with the 3sgte. But if i can't get it registered in time i will have to go on the 250cc bike. It tops out at 140km/h. But either way i will still be there.

What you talking about Wilesse!?!

The FulSik Camry's record of 18.99 is unbeaten for almost 2 years!

My advice, get there early. I waited 3 hours only to have one and only ever 1/4 mile run. I was trying to the non offical US record at the time of around 16 sec or get close to it. But a piss poor takeoff due to dire lack of experience shattered that dream.

I'm never going to win straight out races. But you lives with your choices.

bike shops tend to have expensive helmets, as when you're on a bike they're a lot more important.

for a simple drag race application, I'd be buying the cheapest one you can find that is tolerable to wear

look for second hand helmets.... Bike riders have to get rid of them after one hit or a certain number of years, so u can usually get them dirt cheap.

WITZL, there is a reason that we get rid of them after 3-5 years(depending on what material was used), they are unsafe to use as the material is no longer able to cushion the impact propperly. Thats why u see riders flogging them off dirt cheap. Personally i wouldn't buy one that is older than 2 years.

yeah, but for a drag race in a car, the helmet is not important (imho)

if it were a track day, or I was on a bike, I would be buying a good one.

but not for a drag, when I hit those speeds on the street.

So, will you be racing Jason?

I'd be really happy to crack a high 12 on the night, i'm running full street trim this time, street tyres, open diff Razz will be a good traction war! Maybe I'm being optimistic. Next time will be slicks & a fat LSD diff Smile Unfortunately they wont be finished this time.

See you all there!

Does anyone live near the creek? I am keen to come up early on Wednesday morning, and drop my car & trailer off somewhere, then go look at some importers before picking the car back up & taking it to the track.

Cheers

Phil, HELL YEAH. I will be giving granny's ol' faithful a squirt.
Just cost me over $850 for front wheels and tyres ($257.50 ea for M/T front runners) Shocked They only weigh 7lbs each tho.

Have you still got those 550cc injectors?

Didnt you have front runners before? Does it make it heaps easier to steer with the slicks on the back?

Yes, the 550cc injectors are still around, they are not mine, I was selling them for a mate. Are you interested? I can find out if he's still happy to get rid of them.

Phil

I'm only 10 or so min from the creek and home all day wednesday if you wanted to drop of your beast while you go shopping. That no worries. PM or call me if you are interested 0401624192

Also has any one got a helemet I could use. The only constraint is that I have a huge friggen head. So the helmet has to be massive. Does anyone know where I can get as cheap or second hand one????

Thanks

Helmets -- have you tried Revolution Racegear?? I'm pretty sure they were selling them for around $80 for open-face ones last time I asked. You wouldn't need more than this for drags though.

Question - why is it being held on a Wednesday, the middle of a working-week? If it was just at night I could understand, but it's from the middle of the afternoon onwards Confused

Even if I could make it, I'm afraid I'd probably break something on my poor old SXA-11R. I've got rego coming up at the end of this month, and for custom plates it isn't cheap with the greenslip, pink and all... $900+. A quarter-mile in my beastie? Probably wouldn't even trouble the 17-second mark. Laughing

So, do we have a list of exactly who is going now?

From what I can see, the list might be like this:

The Witzl (RA23? Celica)
The Stitt (Crown Wagon)
Yellorolla (Corolla 3TGTE)
OzCraig (TA23 Celica)
Lambocelica (RA28 18RG)
Draven (MA61 1JZGTE)
Draza (250cc bike?)
kayot1c's dad (R33 skyline)
oldcorollas (?)
Turbocamry (3SGTE Camry)
DNation (3SGTE MR2)
Who else?

I'll be there, though I doubt I'll be able to get there early enough to race.
How strict are they on tyres, my fronts are illegal on the edges?
Anyone need a pit crew?

I am going to try and get out there to watch.. The RA28 is off the road Sad

The AE86 4AGE clutch is buggered so i'm a bit stuck for a car that'll make it down the track.

And no, I wont run the 4AC AE86 Razz haha.

But will be good seeing all your guys run! Smile
