sounds like your toyota dealer couldnt be bothered to help you out.

Most Toyota dealers dont know about the T-IV and will just bung in dexron3.. persevere and get them to order the correct stuff.

I took my car for another drive tonight. I let it warm up a little before i left. When i was driving it still would not change up gears? The front cut had been sitting around for a while though. Do you think this could cause it? Would a problem like this fix itself with more driving?

I haven't changed the fluid yet, but it actually looks okay. I was just crazy before Smile

thanks in advance

well after a big search last night i found out that mx83toy had the same problem as me last year! My speedo is not connected and therefore it is not telling the gearbox to change. Will have to get it wired this weekend hopefully.

thanks

ok ill tyr to explain it
ive fixed afew 1jz which wont change gears
and got them working

if u have a digital speedo sensoer instead of the usual speedo cable then the ditgital sender on the box has 3 wries

think they come up to the dash plugs near the ecu plugs

the 3 wires are maybe yellow black and violet/white

yellow is power black is earth and violet/white is signal

violet/white is signal to the speedo on the dash
the signal then comes from the back of the dash to spd1 or spd
to the ecu i think its a pink wire
if u jack the car up its easy to check for a pulse when u turn the wheel

there is also a secondary speed sensor sp+ and sp- are the pins for it on the ecu

then there is also a speend sensor on the gbox which is for the abs

thanks a lot for that.

I will have a look at it tomorrow.

The only thing is I am not sure if mine is the usual speedo cable or digital? I have never seen a usual speedo cable. What do they look like? I have the analogue dash out of jzx90. I will go searching for those wires though.

I am going to Indy on that weekend also, except my car should be finished by then because there is no way i am driving to the gold coast in 1st gear with a 4.5:1 diff!!!!!

thanks again for the help!

i live on the sunshine coast which is 1 hour from brisbane. Umm, I have to go to the corner shop to get eggs and mayonaisse. Maybe an avacodo too. So...if my car is not wired by the time you come here, i would love your help. For a small fee of course Smile
