1G starter?

Are 1G starters non-standard?
I think mine is dying. It normally just clicks without rolling over, but yesterday, it didn't click at all when I turned the key... Did this all day long. Had to push start my car each time I needed to use the car.
Just wanna avoid any nasty surprises if I pull the starter out and go to Repco or somewhere...

don't know how much it'll help, but part number is:
Toyota
28100-15040
[ND 028000-6362]
[12V 6G26]
(those last 4 digits were stamped onto the ID plate)
and why do i know all these numbers? because helmann's 1G (except block) is spread over about a dozen boxes in my spare room
BTW: maybe the solenoid is snaffu but motor still OK?

Nark,
I have heard there is a common problem with 1G's and their starters. They seem to have problems triggering the starter motor, the fix is to hook up a relay so the trigger wire triggers the relay open and then it feeds a straight 12v from a direct source.
Any more problems and u may wanna try this.

You mean hook the trigger up so that it's coming straight from a 12V source?
