I recently got my alternator rebuilt (some sort of bosch one) by a mate and he said that it only produces 45 amps. is this too low for my 4age? if so what alternator could i use? ie from which car?
cheers

45amps is prbly fine, unless you have something that requires major power (subs etc), I think the 5M-E alternator is only a 45amps unit as well.
If its working fine I wouldn't loose sleep over it!

Ah ok. well my engine has a slight misfire. and the alternator was stuffed, so i assumed it was the alternator causing the misfiring. but now i have installed the rebuilt alternator and its still misfiring a little. What else can cause misfire? i have changed plugs and done alternator.
cheers

Hmm I'm not really much of a guru on misfires (check with someone else before you believe what I say! ).
It might be your coil (not sure how you test this!)? Or maybe a spark plug lead? Sorry I can't help you more man but I'd rather let someone who has more of an idea steer ya in the right direction than give you shit info.
Cheers
