Hi all
I know a guy who is putting a 18rg into a 22 and he is running into some difficuility with the cross member and rear engine mounts on the box i know there are people out there who have done this conversion and i was just wondering if i could pick your brains for some clues.
Thanks in Advance

Jas

the mounts will have to be custom made as far as i know, unless he uses a RA2X crossmember (???)

i have to ask though, why bother with an 18R in a TA22. wouldn't a 2T/3TG hybrid be a better, smaller and lighter option???

well, best of luck with the conversion.

Its a 18rg not a 18r and the problem is that he has already gone ahead and done most of the work so this is like shutting the gate after the horse has already bolted

18R or 18RG, either way it's the same block, and the same difficulties associated with bolting it into the TA22. hopefully someone else here knows about the compatibility of a RA2x crossmember into a TA22. people use TA23 crossmembers into RA23's when they throw away the boat anchors and use T-series engines, but i dont think that the RA2x crossmembers will go into the TA22 easily.

otherwise it's custom all the way...

Use your standard 22 X member, (23/28 won't fit) use a corona sump and oil pick up, them custom fab some engine mount brackets, and gearbox x member to body mounts.

regards Chuck.
