Richmond is a bit far for me...thanks anyway. I'm looking more to the northern suburbs like Thomastown, Epping, Campbellfield, Preston areas....but i'm willing to go a bit west like Keilor, Tullamarine, Sunshine areas.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ive heard good AND bad stuff about Maztech (Dundas St, Thornbury) but see how you go. Closest Microtech dealer (to me) at any rate. My experience with them is ok, apart from the delay in receiving my ecu.
AES in Airport West has a good reputation within my circle of friends, and the manager there sounded very helpful and friendly.
Cheers
tom.

Yeah sounds good....so Maztech, like Promaz, do other cars other than rotarys? I'm always curious about those places, because they really just specialise in rotors, so i don't want to be a guinea pig

There were a fair few non rotary cars in Promaz workshop when i paid them a visit. It seems like they know more than just rotaries. They were the token Nissan cars though (Skys, Silvias etc) I didnt see any toyotas.
Your best bet is to have a chat with all the workshops in your area, and find the one that sounds like they know what they are doing and can back that up with satisfied customer reports. Not all the reports about Maztech have been positive, however.
cheers.

Actually i've already been around a bit, and local shops in my area are P.E.T., Promaz, etc., etc....and friends of mine hav been to both and i've gotten to know the people there quite well, and from my experience P.E.T. are only really proven to make tough VL's and anything with a Nissan engine in it....however i hav seen them do very few FWD cars....and in my mind they are not really interested nor are they proven to make a tough FWD car.
Same goes for Promaz...my mate has a FWD Lancer and took it there to get an EVO motor put in. Although it is a nice job and conversion by Promaz, it cost my mate a fortune, and really he is not running the times that he wanted simply because Promaz aren't experienced enough in FWD conversions...i'm not saying they can't do it...but less face it, they are not known for any 11sec FWD cars.
So basically i just need some help from u guys to find a shop that has built very fast FWD cars anything under the 13sec bracket would be awesome.
Thanks again.

Well this is all I have to say about workshops that worked on my supra before I owned it...

Engine been leavered by TEMS cover

Bashed in fire wall
Not pictured is:
overspray of mylar gasket cement on turbo manifold suggesting manifold was not removed (impossable to surface head with manifold attached)
scrapes on head surface from being slid over studs
Missing washers on head studs
piled on copper washers (aprox 6) on fuel pulseation damper
Cross threeded (imperial nylock) nut on turbo oil feed/drain causeing major leak
improperly seated injector o rings causing fuel leak
Send your car to a workshop at your own risk the only person that cares about your car is YOU! I have seen just as bad work done on cars up in sydney when I have visited.

even do my own exhausts cant get any better then one you did yourself no banging no crush bends all mandrels cant wait to do the one on the MA70 properly!

Yeah that's the sort of shit i'm talking about...these other workshops i've been to are so careless....i haven't found any place that takes care when working on the car, like being careful not to scratch the freshly painted rocker cover!!
So now u can all see my problem that finding a good workshop that cares about the car as much as u do, doesn't exist!

have you got a spare gasket for the back of the turbo?
getting the plate cut will cost you $80 but you may get a couple of spare plates (that place down edwards st next to the hotel at the lights)

Ill get to work getting a template made from cardboard and a steel plate. You are a dead set legend
I highly recommend Allans Engineering to all!
BTW ill be done with the crane when the ecu comes in... You were right, Allan, I probably wouldnt trust them with my car after all this piss farting around.
cheers
tom.
