My mate is selling his 1974 Ta22 Celica. It has a ae92 Afm 4agze motor. 2.5 inch manderal bent exhaust, high flow cat and stainless steel cannon. 15inch hyperfang style wheels. Needs new front gaurd, slight rust. There is a varying in the idle, problem is unknown to us. Before sale he is getting it engineered, so a brake upgrade is needed.
Pics can be seen in N.S.W forum members. But the chromies dont come with it.
He is looking for about 5 grand.

Hey there.
I dont know why he is selling it. You would have to ask him. I listed the things that are wrong with it above.
(1) Slight rust
(2) Front panel is fucked
(3) Surging Idle
No I dont consider it being thrashed.

Twinky - How can I get in touch with the owner? I wouldn't mind having a look at it some time this week if he's free early, or maybe next weekend.
Just out of interest, how fucked is the front panel? (I've seen the pictures in the members section which look awesome, so I'm just wondering if the car is still that straight)

hey guys. I had a talk to my mate today. He said he isnt quite ready to sell yet. He wants to get a new guard and get the front end resprayed (both gaurds and bonnet). He has to get engineered because he got defected for the engine. So that might take awhile. He also wants to try and fix the idle problem. So he basically wants to make it nearly perfect before he sells it to one of you guys.
The wheels are in decent condtion. Front tyres 99% tread, rear 80%.
So i'll keep you's posted as to whats happening with it. Once its engineered he will prob take it to the creek, so you could always have a look then

Is this the Celica that is normally at maccas narellan on fri or sat nights? wid da shabby silver/grey paint?
im very interested in it.. i live in cobbitty too so i am very close, if ur mate is willing to sell still i might come by n take a look?
Just out of curiosity, does he have exact power figures? it wouldnt be much over 100kw would it?
as i said, im very interested and will be once all work has been done if he doesnt want to sell b4 hand

Yes this is the car you are thinking about, he should be getting it engineered very soon,as he got defected a few weeks ago. After he gets it engineered he would be fixing the guard and a few other problems.
The idle problem has been fixed.
Me or Twinky will post when andrew will be selling (after engineered,etc)

Well if ur mates doesn't wanna sell it for a while and wants to get it fixed up... I don't know how long that is gunna take... But i might be interested around the end of the year... That might seem ages away.. But i thought ur mate might wanna have some fun with it

Man, they guys i know who go there b4 going for a crusie on fri or sat nights seem fine. While there are some V8 wankers around, the scene out here i find id very friendly so mayb da dudes ur talking bout were from sumwhere else or just looking for trouble... that wouldnt suprise me round here!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha

The rust is in the bottom right door, I am pretty sure this will be removed for it is sold. It could be a few weeks or a few months before it is sold,depends on what his plans are for it.

The paint job is to take away from the fact that the car is SOMETIMES thrashed
I saw the car last week as i drove into maccas to get food, every1 was standing around it lol... i would have come n said hey but u all seemed to be staring me down so i didnt  I then saw the car again on sat night outside hungryjacks at the lights, i puled up beside it i think or just behind n it was cruising with what seemed to be a green gemini? what ever it was it looked schmik!!! They had a drag n da gemi was doing fishies down da street n den da ta22 just dumped it n took off...awesome sight
im still sorta keen on this car, just wanna know when he would b definately selling??????

Mate does the current owner still work at a Celica Spares or is that where he bought it from. It used to be a pretty straight car when first purchased.
Who is doing the paint and Panel ? If it went for closer to its original purchase price and has been restored to that condition agin I know someone who is interested !

hey guys, just to clear up a few things!
1. Yes the car was once owned by that guy from celica spares. It had the guard already stuffed and rust in places.
2. Respray should be done by M and D smash in narellan. Not baremetal.
3. New box is going in after the recent one finally let go.
4. wants around 7 grand, spent shit loads on it.
Any people that are really interested in it. Let me know and I will give you andrews contact details. It hasnt been sprayed yet though.

Well if you think he has something to hide, keep it to yourself!!! We are trying to sell something here. Would you like it if I came into a post that you had and start bitching about how crap I thought your car was????
Plus what the hell would you hide with a respray???? Rust?? Go look at it before it gets painted, the rust is fixed!!!! What else could you hide with a respray???? Ever thought that maybe he is respraying it cause the paint work is shit house ?
He will sell with or without respray. Up to you's!! Without the respray $6000, $7000 with. There is a dent in the door (scum bag kicked it), one guard is trashed(purchased with it already like that) and there is on other dent in the other guard. That is why it was going to be resprayed. As I said the rust has been fixed. (had to pass for rego).

I'm sure it would be a very nice ride.
Its just that 99% of time a car is resprayed before its sold its to hide something.
It just doesn't make much sense to me to spend say $3000 respraying the car when you will only get an extra $1000 for it, you might aswell be throwing the money down the drain.

The reason I said "not with a respray - $6000" is because the dude that was spraying it for cheap wanted to buy it without the respray for $5000 and andrew didnt want to sell it for that much. So the guy is sorta having baby cries and Andrew doesnt know if he will spray it for cheap anymore.

Been a long while since I have seen it but last I looked it was actually a pretty good body on the old girl. The silver paint was letting it down a litte but rust wise fort a TA22 it was pretty damn good. !
Guard damage was not there when I saw it but hey these things happen. I'll let my mate know its back up for sale (almost bought it last time round)

yeh the front left hand guard was stuffed big time. Looks like he got a hammer into it to panel beat it, then bogged it up and painted over it. Shocking stuff  .
Body isnt to bad, just the two gaurds and the door. Yeh I know it didnt have much rust. Only a little bit in the door and tiny bit under the rear windscreen, but both have been fixed. Yeh the paint is letting it down a little. With a respray it would look smick.
