Sunday Cruise to the 'Gong..... DETAILS
|

UPDATE
BTW, this is for Sunday the 11th of August.
OK, here's the plan......
9:30, Northerners meet at Thornleigh Maccas. Munch some brekky, and we leave by 10. Head down Cumberland Hwy, but turn left at James Ruse dr, right onto Parramatta rd, then left down Woodville rd. 10:30, Westerners & Easterners meet at (Merrylands?) Maccas, corner of Woodville rd & Merrylands rd, opposite Granville park. Us Northerners should be there about 10:45, then we all leave by 11. Head down Woodville rd, follow it as it turns into Henry Lawson Dr, and take a right at Alfords Point Rd, and I guess we'll just follow that through Lucas Hts, turn right at Heathcote Rd which takes us to the Prinvess Hwy. ANYONE FROM THE SOUTH, can you please suggest a spot for us to stop & meet up? Somewhere near Padstow Hts, or maybe further down towards Menai? I'm unfamiliar with the area, so it's hard for me to pick a good spot.
Once we get onto the Southern Fwy, I have no idea where to go, so if someone who knows the way can lead us, that'd be great. Maybe someone from the 'gong can meet up with us to lead the way? We should be there around 1pm. We should prolly stop and grab some lunch as well.
We'll find out from Yogi where the car show is, & hopefully some details, and then we can decide as a group whether to stay for dinner or get back to Sydney for a feed (I dare someone to have breakfast, lunch & dinner at Maccas )
So that's the plan, if anyone has any suggestions on meeting or eating spots, let us know, but let us know soon, so everyone can be in on it.

There is a show on over that weekend! its called the "hot car titles" its in wollongongs west, ive been invited and will be attending! if you want to work it into the cruise, you should pop around and see some of the toughest cars in aus (they put me near the girls toilets! iam not to sure what they are trying to say??) anyway i have the bike so we can still go on a cruise!

Basically, the way that i went down there from Chatswood was as follows... Leave Chatswood and head to Lane Cove RD... Keep on that thru Concord and along Homebush Bay Drive... Continue on from there towards the Princess Hwy and follow that the entire way to the Gong... It's fairly easy to get there...

I have a whole heap of ppl with a whole heap of different cars to ring to see if they are interested... Commodores, Charades, Toyotas, Nissans, Subarus, Mitsushittis, Fords and a few others... Would all of these ppl be welcome??? I know "The more the merrier" but there would be at least another 20 cars that could possibly come...

Hi all, I will come for sure if someone can tell me why the hell my 1GGTE is idling at 2000rpm!!
I would also like to become a financial member if possible on the day. 10:30 seems fuckin early for me though, I have to come from Bathurst and that means getting up at like 6 or something. I don't even think the sun is up then.
If the sun isn't up then I don't think I should be...
I prob won't be engineered though but I will try to get done the day before.
Would anyone else come from west of Sydney cause we could meet up or something.
Tim.

Bigworm,
I noticed we dont have a meetup place for the Southerners yet. I have a suggestion. When you reach the end of Heathcote Rd and turn right onto the Princess HWY there is a fairly large Caltex on the left hand side about 1/2 a Km down the road. I think it will make a good place to meet up.

Just been doing a last minute check of the route.. We may need to make a change or two, but I don't think everything is set in stone yet is it?
Quote: | Head down Woodville rd, follow it as it turns into Henry Lawson Dr, and take a right at Alfords Point Rd, and I guess we'll just follow that through Lucas Hts, turn right at Heathcote Rd which takes us to the Prinvess Hwy.
|
I've gone this way before, and it isn't actually possible to turn right into Alford's Point Rd from Henry Lawson.
Option 1: There is another turn a bit further on which takes you through Padstow Heights for a few streets, and gets you back around onto Henry Lawson (heading the other direction so you can turn left into Alfords Point Rd).
Option 2: Another alternative would be to take a left off Henry Lawson onto Milperra Road (at Bankstown airport) and follow this up to turn right onto Fairford Road (up near Padstow). This turns into Davies Road, and later becomes Alford Point Rd. From there, follow the original plan.
The downsides to the second option would possibly be traffic along Canterbury Rd, and the fact that it isn't as picturesque as Henry Lawson. On the up-side, it might be a faster trip to get down there, which means we can enjoy those lovely Southern Roads sooner.
Anyway, this was just to give some ideas..
I'm sure the details can still be finalised.

Paul, I'd rather the second option if it's gunna be faster... What are we doing when we get to the gong??? Are we going to teh car show or what??? How much is entry??? If entry is like $20, then i'll go to the lighthouse and video cars... I can't spend much money at the moment...

I actually live in Menai.....and would love to come... may not be able to as I have to be in Pennant Hills for work at 4PM.
May I suggest that you keep the Maccas theme going and meet at Menai McDonalds for us southerners. Has two nice big car parks.... from the sound of it you'll need every space.
I'm real keen to go on a cruize with you guys... but I think I'd have to leave wollongong around 1:30 - 2pm if I don't want to get docked.
What time would you expect to be heading through my parts.... and what time would you leave the gong?

That sounds like a plan mate
Any people coming from the Southern suburbs can meet up at the Caltex on Princess Highway. On the left, just past Heathcote Rd when heading South. If we keep to the schedule, and leave the Merrylands meeting point on time (11am) then we should be able to make it for an 11:45 - 12:00 meetup at the Caltex. From there we'll head straight down the highway towards the 'gong.

`Cuda - Exactly whereabouts will you be waiting for us? I don't know the roads that well once we get past Bulli. Do we just go straight on past the entrance to Bulli pass & look for you at the bottom of the hill, or is there a park/carpark down there somewhere we can meet you? eta. at this stage I guess is probably around 12:30 - 1 o'clock or so?
Doing Jamberoo Pass again sounds bloody sweet, I had a ball last time we went up there! As for the car show & any other activities, it might be best to wait and see what everyone feels like when we get down there.
thug_immortal - If you're coming from Narellan, I'd probably suggest either heading over to meet up with us at the Caltex in Heathcote (11:45 - 12:00) or maybe take Picton Rd down south and try and hook up with us when we meet `Cuda (location still to be confirmed).
AND!!!! Can everyone please reply in the other thread I started, to tell us all if you're coming, and where you'll be meeting up?
*phew!* (I think that's everything )
