Anyone know any legit tax tricks?
I copped a fairly hefty fine and need some money urgently before i resort to selling my arse at the Cross.
Apparently you can claim up to $450 for sunnies and sun screen to cover the last 4 years if you can claim you work outside.
Anyone know if this and any others are good???
Help need or my supra's power output will be failing!!!!

And you can get the $70 back the year after! Plus they can find a LOT more stuff than you will be able to!

u dont get actually get the $70 back but you can claim it as a deduction which means you get $70 off your taxable income.

OK accountant here -
You can claim $300 in other deductions (no need receipts) (Item D5)
In Media Release on 5 June 2002, the commisioner advised that he will not appeal the Federal Court's decision in Morris v GCT [2002] FCA 616. Cut it short you can claim another $85x5 = $425 re sunnies and skinprotection IF you work outdoors or need to go to clients and hence walk outdoors (5 yrs because it back dates to 199 in item D5.
This $425 does not count towards the $300 substantiation limit so you dont need any receipts at all - total dedn $725
These are the basic dedns you can claim, without going into detail, and charging you guys for my services !!!

Matt- taxes have been going down not up! Still too high though 
Duckman - you don't need the receipt to be able to claim it.

Toby - That may well be the case, I admit I know nothing about tax, I always just send in my tax return without claiming stuff. But if more people pay less tax, then the gov will have to increase tax eventually in order to pay for roads/health etc.
Maybe its time I invested in these accountants.

Damn, i really should go through an accountant this financial year. Done it myself last few years. Imagine all the money i could have been entitled to. 
What kind of stuff do i need to take to an accountant?
Receipts, bank statements, group certificates...?

Apparently u can also claim up to like 500 on charity donations without receipts too is this true or have i been mislead?
