Give you some ideas, but alasim guessing its 5ME POWA! Should still be doable though.

Alternatively, you could see if can remove and replace the brushes from inside the alternator itself (much cheaper!)

who made your current one? you might be able to upgrade the guts to higher amperage.... particularly if it's a bosch.. but it's pretty easy to adapy any alternator to any motor. you just need to keep your current pulley and possibly make up new brackets.

hmm, a little more complicated than that..
for my KE70 alternator, which is a 40amp one, i took out both the stator and rotor, and also the field diode assemble and brushes, out of an XF falcon 60A alt, and oput it into mine.
basically, you swap the front and rear housing onto the internal parts of the bigger alt, and then you have a higher ampage alternator, but with your original mountings.
is usually easy to find a higher rated Bosch part that will slip in, but maybe not for mitsu or others

your best bet is to take it to a wreckers (jap only) and walk around trying to match it with other late model toyotas...they should share the same bolt pattern, and be very similar in mounting points. Just a thought..
