Not much i dont think.
I know the oz spec t50 doesnt have a speed sensor off the gearbox.
Perhaps that is the difference. Being that we only got the carbie version.
Just my 2c worth

Kool, just i have occassionally seen things described a sa Jap spec T50 gearbox..... And I always was thinking, whats the significant difference to state it is a japanese specification.
Thanks for the 2+ cents.
Id add my own, but it has been proven I have no sense... or cents, or sense about cents...or cents to pay for sense.... so how about a few pence? If I kept bullshittin, would I make you tense?

For the record, I cannot find any information about different boxes in AE86!
The clutch slave is purely a bell-housing issue!
And the speed sensor is in the dash cluster (yes the OZ cluster as well even tho it's not used)!

No
Same ratios, different speedo cable gearset, plus:
2T
20 spline output shaft
smaller radial bearings
4A
22 spline output shaft
large roller bearings. no conical spring washers between bellhousing & gearbox.
Cheers

If you re-read simon you will notice I said "I think the ratios are different", sorry I haven't finished my degree on ae86 know-itiallism yet. I believe this site is about sharing information and learning, A simple "no the ratios are actually the same" would have been fine.

yes im touchy!
and all i said was dont speculate. there have been countless threads on this topic and so many people saying "oooooooh the jap boxes are better, got better ratio's etc etc"
simply correcting them quickly and to the point
