No the 4agze was never a rwd motor.
I believe a good way is to use the 4agze block and all of its components and (its not totally neccessary) use a n/a bigport head minus the tvis. Bigger ports = better air flow = hmmmmm.
You will also need the use the inlet manifold off the bigport head, i dont think the 4agze manifold is suited for/to turbo applications.
Aftermarket ecu wouldnt hurt either.
There is more to it then this(fuel pump and lines etc, etc) but im tired, and im not thinking straight, so ill let someone else have a turn.
Just my 2c worth.

I'm completely in planning stage right now - AE86 with 4agte as a project car ... so to do that, would it be best to purchase an ae86 with a bluetop (bigport) 4age then purchase a 4agze engine without supercharger(and sell of the parts i dont need)? parts in the 4agze will of course be in better condition, or should i just get the same car and buy the 4agze parts which I only require? I'm not sure about this as its my first project car (i already have a car =D) ... can u weigh the pros and cons in terms of quality of parts, cost, allround value ... please (ignore the cost of replacing the parts in the ae86)!

If i was you i would:
Buy a 4agze from a good importer, if you get a bigport gze then get a rwd intake manifold, just a custom manifold to suit your turbo and a aftermarket computer. If you get a Map sensor motor you will need to use the fwd intake manifold and switch the throttle body to the other side. I woldnt use a T50 gearbox either, it will break in about a minute.

You use a bigport manifold on a smallport motor?

ok i see,
but why dont you just use the big port head,
I have about 4 big port heads here so iam guessing there not all that hard to find.
If you place a big and small port head beside each other you soon see how they got their names

AE 92 and MR2 4AGZE's are big port. If its got an airflow meter, it's bigport.
I've put a MR2 4AGZE in my Celica, and it's an easy conversion. Only fiddly bits are the water outlet at the back of the head, and the engine mounts.
Cheers,
Justin

hey, um why not just use a map sensor 4agze block, piss the small port head off and use 4age big port head with a rwd intake manifold off a import ae86 motor as the standard intake manifold are bodgy and restrictive...and if you goin to turbo it like you are i would use full forged pistons not the stock 4agze cerimic coated pistons everything else internally seems to handle turbo-charging fairly well.also a t50 wouldnt braek in a second if you dont slap gears everyday, as MR 20V was using a t50 for a while with a modified 20v and handled that fine. so many people under estimate a t50 but they do the job if driven properly...
cheers

yep moo4AGZETA22 is correct, AW11 gze's and early AE92 with afm and DLI were the bigport versions, with the later ae92 map sensor and ae101's were the smallport versions.... I wouldnt bother putting the bigport head on the gze, though i would use the bigport cams and they have slightly more lift and duration...
