Live streaming - any way to download? Wed, 01 October 2003 00:37 Go to next message
Is there a program out there that allows you to download stuff that is live streaming?

I am a computer spastic so speak slowly and loudly.

hmmmm

i think it depends on what format it is streaming in

real?
windows media?

i havent really used these much, but i'd check within the client programs ('RealPlayer', 'Windows Media PLayer') to see if there are any 'save' or 'stream to disk' kind of options

someone who uses windows more than i do could be of more help

There are special programs out there that do it...

I've never bothered to try it, so I can't help you any more than that.

Although, normally, it's not a true stream, you can look into the HTML code and find the filename and try to download it....

Windows Media Recorder - Download
ASF Recorder - http://www.divx-digest.com/software/asf_recorder.h tml

These are the tools you need if the video really is streaming. Takes all the pain out of recording... I love these programs.

It's actually just for music. I found this German radio statio that plays lounge music and was hoping to DL some stuff.

Will these programs work for music only?

and if you use Mac OS X, use Streamripper <http://streamripper.sourceforge.net> to rip to MP3, you can relay the audio to iTunes to listen while you RIP.
you can drag-and-drop radio station from iTunes to Streamripper or type in URL.

Here's one for you guys...

I'm trying to figure out how to grab the vids off Yahoo's Launch site...
I know it can be done, 'coz I know someone that does it. But can't figure it out!
Anyone know!

Closest I've gotten is to get to this URL...
http://launchtoday.launch.yahoo.com/player/videovi ew.asp?cid=1&ps=0&sx=g%2F4.xml&sgm=&am p;uid=1321944528&im=0&bw=300&vid=10842 31&tw=LaunchVideoTarget&env=&bb=Micros oft&bp=Windows%20NT&vf=2&cf=1&rf=& amp;cfw=322

Reading the sourcecode, I get this URL...
http://launchtoday.launch.yahoo.com/player/showasx .asp?cid=1&pid=4&sx=g%2F4.xml&sgm=0&am p;am p;vid=1084231&bw=0&csid=396500550&ugui d=a795fa110a5f48709e4300fe8d3f38bb&uid=0&i m=0&pls=&asp=

But that's about it... Stick in a username and password and it gives me a 404! Sad

Anyway, enough for today, I'll try again tomorrow...
