Is it worth putting in the 100kw age in my 86kw ae82 twincam or should I just do a nice rebuild on my existing engine (which is leaking oil and needs a new gearbox etc). The latter sounds a lot easier as I wont have to change loom and ECU.

Dont know if the 14kw extra is worth the effort and money.

Some people say that the 86kW engine feels torquier than the 100kW engine. Personally I disagree. I think that all the ae82's that I've driven have felt slower than the ae92's I've driven. Some of that might be due to the age difference but most would be due to the different engines. If you're after minimal hassle then I think you would have to go for re-building the big-port. That way there is no stuffing about with changing sensors etc.
