I paid about $400 to get 2 JZA80 intercoolers welded together with new end tanks.

but i wont be using 3 cores instead will be using 2 cores giving a core size of>

440 length 245 height 100 width as im not going to do much to the car i think this is better than the current stock setup....

First of all it's going to be a real bitch welding the cores together like that (how are you going to join all the tubes?), but even if you pull it off, you're going to triple the pressure loss across the cooler by forcing the air to travel through all 3 cores. I chose to join my cores in parallel, not in series, because it halves the pressure loss across the cooler - in other words, half of the air goes through one core and half goes through the other, thus decreasing restriction.

Having said that, if you just want a big cooler it doesn't really matter.

I agree with Norbie, the best way to join cores like this is to have a "top to bottom" design with paralell cores.

Easier to make and more effective.

Try Jamie, @ JT AUTOGAS, in Newcastle. 0249569600.

looks like straps have been welded around the ends on the 3 core item! would be very turbulent at the ends of each core section

Norbies one is da stuff now if it would fit in an MA70.... Very Happy

ye the only problem i see with that is fitment in a soarer would be hard due to space constraints...

this is the only reason why i looked at this option as it would fit easily in the available space.
