Errmmm the 87/88 twincam hatch has the 86kw engine not the 100kw engine, that would be the SX.
I found one 87 Corolla twincam hatch with excellent condition inside and out, immaculate, engine was really strong with 176,000 selling for $2900. U wouldn't need to budget so much for a twincam, the SX/GTI would be more.
I found a SX for around $9000 in Melbourne it had 76,000kms or something, $12k is a lot for a corolla, even if its immaculate, why spend that much on a corolla. I would say look for one with GZE for the same price, I saw one on 4age.net for like $11,000 and it had the works, his name is Jason Purcell

Hi
I have a 1992 Seca, SX upgrade with 20v engine and many other mods. 20v engine used had 35,000kms on the dash (I still have front cut with dash) and I have done approx 17,000 since then.
Has been heavily modified from standard though.
Only thing left to do is paint.
Want $8,000. Selling due to new company car arriving in 2 weeks.
Can see on the Sunshine Coast but travel regularly to Bris.
email me: chaoren@dodo.com.au if you want any more info, pics etc
cheers
Gavin

I'm almost 100% sure that no ae82's came with the smallport 100kW engine. If they are out there then they are so rare that they aren't worth looking for. Cam cover writing can lead you astray - blue, red, whatever can be found on either version - its also very easy to swap.
If you want a 100kW 4A-E you'd best look for an ae92 OR an ae82 that has had a coversion done to it...

I've also never seen a 100kw STOCK AE82. All the ones in the trading post either have no idea or a conversion has been done.

The 100kw engine was introduced with the ae92s only from what I know,
Most likely they have been replaced with the 100kw engine, not even the imports came with the 100kw engine, it was introduced in 1989 with the SX.
The ae86 imports came with the 96kw 4age i believe, but none of the Australian AE82 came with a 100kw stock!
