Ripping out air-con in AE-93. . . anyone else done it? Thu, 02 October 2003 18:39 Go to next message
Hey dudes, i know it may sound stupid to some, but seeing how my aircon has been regassed and still stopped working after 3 months so yesterday i decided. . . fuck it. . . ill rip her out (Hey, you get more flow to radiator, plus the added weight reduction bonus LOL)
Since doing so my car runs CONSIDERABLY cooler, so cool in fact that at operating temperature during a normal 25 day the temp dial sits ON THE COLD LINE, constantly.

However as i found out there are 2 fan belts. The first just runs alternator and water pump (essentials) the second runs aircompressor and power steering pump. So obviously i cant just rip out the now bare (and noisy-even when a/c or fan not on) aircompressor as i need a new belt for power steering!
The problem : Allegedly toyota doesn't make a corolla or 4age with powersteering - BUT NOT aircon Sad

Has anyone done this and found a compatible belt? or if they had one made how much did it cost?

i was kind of hoping this would be a cheap venture.

Cheers all Surprised
