Haven't tried it but it'd be good if they worked. Jza-70 R brakes are the same as all other MA/JZA-70's so there would be a big line up of people trying to the buy some 4 spots!
I've found that EBC "Green Stuff" pads work well in the stock Supra brakes - I've had them pretty damn hot and they don't fade.....

They don't fit on MA70, and the JZA70 have the same brakes (although they could be slightly ventilated).

Can't remember where I saw the link ...

This details the rear brakes JZA80 to JZA70/MA70.

Only difference I found between jza70 and ma70 brakes is that the backing plate for the jza brakes have a little duct/vent that sticks out to help cool the brake disk. If you have the rubber front lip and ductwork that goes under the plastic skirt on the bottom of the engine bay then you do get some air directed into these vents.
There was a school of thought that the jza, and especially the R-type disks were bigger and the brakes were better than the MA70. I've never found this to be true.

I concur. (always wanted to say that)

I picked up some JZA70 brakes from a friendly toymods person, I'm hoping to swap just the disks over to my car as mine are quite scored. I'm also gonna put some nice pads on, maybe the green-stuff ones.

The green stuff are really good for everyday and hard driving. They don't really need to be warmed up, and keep on working the hotterr they get. I was giving my car a good thrash through the hills a couple of months ago when my passenger noticed some smoke coming up from the front - we pulled over and it was the brakes!!! Shocked - even in daylight they were a bluish colour and pretty hot. I hadn't noticed any loss in pedal feel or braking efficiency but backed off becuase I didn't want to boil the fluid or warp my rotors.

They do wear out your disks faster than normal shitty pads but for a heavy car like the Supra's I'd say they (or another good performance pad) are essential. Esp since the best i've ever been able to get from Bendix for the ma70 is "Std". Not cheap though. Other truly excellent pads I've had were called "Hawk" brake pads from the USA. Don't know if they were available in Supra sizes, but I had em on my 260Z and that used to STOP very very well.

On another note, moving to bigger calipers is all well and good, but if you can't get decent pads for them you're back to square one.

Called the toymods sponsor and ordered a set of green stuff, he's also going to change my disks to the jza ones. Toymods gets a discount on labour there. Also nice bloke to talk to on the phone, knew exactly what I wanted and didn't try and dumb it down or go to technical.

Will hold final verdict till after they do the work. Smile

Result!

I think you'll notice the improvement after driving it very hard for a long time and the pedal never going soft. Apparently they're good for low dust levels too - so the front wheels stay cleaner.
If you don't mind me asking, how much did they cost? Mine were around $230 this time last year ($10 extra to freight them from Melb overnight)

Green stuff for MA70 supra were $210 a set.

Toymods discount is only for labour (which is fine by me).
