icon14.gif  4AGZE into KE10....HELP Sun, 05 October 2003 08:27 Go to next message
i wanna put a 4AGZE into a KE-10

but before i embark on this mysterious adventure i need some info!

i have $7000 to play with.

can some one answer these questions for me-

-what brakes can be bolted on the front with little modification?
-what diff can be used? prefrably bolt in?
- im using a T-50 AE86 box....will this bolt in? or whats involved?
-is the engine going to fit using 4AC engine mounts?
-will the engine fit at all?
- is the suspension easily upgradable? if so what to?
- what sort of quarter mile times am i looking at if i use a 15 psi pulley kit, GTR front mount intercooler and exhaust and extractors and a pod filter?
- i want to upgrade brakes and diff so i can also use 4x114.3 pattern...is this possible to find brake and diff reaplcemants with this pattern that can be bolted on with no major surgery ?

will my budget get me what i want?

any help would be excellent!

thanks
benny

heya Benny,
to start with, have you got or seen a KE10?? it has a few quirks compared to the later rollas. yes, it will be an adventure Very Happy.

budget is good if you are going to do most of it yourself... the hardest part will be finiding suitable hardware that fits. this is mainly because the KE10's have smaller track than most other cars.
KE70 brakes bolt in, no mods. apart from that, there are some vented holden discs that can be used with your choice of caliper, but i never found out what model.

no diff will be bolt in due to the smaller track, and also the leaves are closer together than most other cars. anything beefier will have to be shortened.

T50 will reputably fit into the auto KE10 tunnel, but may fit into manual as well. the auto tunner is same width at the floor, but is wider at the top. you will need to make a new rear cross-member, and also new bolt points (further back), and probably cut hole for shifter.

LOL, nup. you will need to make new engine mounts. the KE10 cross-member mounts are closer together than any other K series.

yes, engine will fit, but you may need to be creative with intake and exhaust so that it fits well... especially exhaust going past idler arm.

suspension can be upgraded as any car can, but you start with a frotn transverse leaf and rear leaves.... a bit of a challenge.
you can fit the KE70 hubs with a bearing change, but they are not much bigger then the KE1x discs (only 10%).

diff will need to be shortened, or you will need to increase front and rear track. basically, there is no easy option, and much will need to be modded or fabricated. as for brakes, maybe start with a KE20 front end and change struts.

if you do a lot of the research and work yourself, you can probably meet your budget, but it will take planning, rather than paying Wink

good luck Smile should be a good project.
