RA28 springs - where to buy? Tue, 07 October 2003 05:53 Go to next message
Hi all, just got a bit of a shock.. Called Whiteline to inquire about some new front springs for the RA28, and they say they do not sell them. Was suprised to hear this seeing that they are a similar spring to so many other cars (ra40, xt130, etc).. Anyhow..

Anyone know who stocks RA28 springs? I'm after something slightly lower.

Cheers
Joel

You can see in this one mine is the far left..

Would much prefer it to sit like the one beside it Smile

It used to sit more like that with the 18R engine and all the stuff in the engine bay but since converting to 3t and moving battery etc to boot the front has lifted up heaps.

I had a set of springs made for my sprinter when I had that, Before I took the big step to the celica but I don't see why they couldn't make a set for celicas. They used to sell complete suspension kits for celicas
prolly still do. (springs, Bushes, swaybars etc.

Oops Brain Fart. K-MAC are who did mine, located in Rockdale.

Thanks all, thats 2 recommendations i've had to k-mac. Will go with them I think..

Still can't get over whiteline canceling all their ra40, ra23, ra28, xt130 etc springs! There is still lots of these cars out there.

The reason I went with them is they don't carry "on the shelf springs" for sprinters so the salesman wansn't just turning over shelf stock. ie a mate got springs for his ra40 and found them too hard. he went back to get a softer set and the salesman said these will be better. apon getting home th springs were identical.
the custom make their springs for older cars based on a "mould" of some sort. so you can got from stiff as to stock to lowered with rising rate. the only problem I found was I wanted softish springs but 2 1/2 inch drop ie close coil turns and I used to find the springs compessed to nothing on very heavy braking.
ie bottomed out (my bad and they did warn me)

hi joel,

well that is my baby sitting next to yours in the photo Very Happy
i got my springs from monaco performance in Newcastle. They are king springs that were reset lower at the factory before being sent out to me.

You can have your springs lowered and stiffened....
i am looking at getting my rears raised and softened, we forgot to take into account the weight of the sub box when we had them reset and now with the new diff, they sit even lower!!!
apparently, dumbrell springs in Newy reset springs.... could be a cheaper optiion with more exact results

Cheers
