Hilux 4 pot Tue, 07 October 2003 21:15 Go to next message
I'm buying hilux calipers for my hilux/peugeot/corona brake conversion. Problem is that I can choose between 1991, 1999 and 2000 hilux models and 1992, 1999 4-runner. I know that 1991 hilux and 1992 4-runner calipers will suit my corona struts. Will those other (newer) calipers suit? I remember that I read somewhere that newer (~1994) hilux calipers would be aluminium, anyone verify this?

BTW. wrecker that I was looking these from had several cars of same year and price is allmost same for all.

well im pretty sure the newer ones wont work as i think they have a different spacing for their mounting holes. the important thing to remember is the spacing between the mounting holes must be 90mm. also just be sure that the will accept a 20mm thick disc.

All hilux brake calipers are iron. 4x4 ones are 4 spot fixed, 2WD ones are single spot sliding. Old 4x4 hiluxs have solid disks and smaller calipers.

The ones you want to suit the XT130 struts/pug disks, are the 4wd 4 spots from about 1990 till pressent. They must be from the vehicles with 20mm thick disks which is most of them. 4-runners (most, maybe not all) use thicker disks and wider calipers to suit but they are the same design. If you get these calipers they may fit the XT130 strut, but a different disk will need to be used and no one has done this yet.

New HiLuxs still use the same iron brake caliper as they have for many years now. Landcruiser is bigger. But some Landcruisers like HZJ70R- like a 1993 model, will have the same brakes as the hilux that we are after. (And yes, I get them to fade easily when they are still on the Landcruiser!)
