Worn worm & sector gears in steering box

Hello, I put my RA28 steering box in for a rebuild as its very sloppy.
Anyhow.. They say the worm and sector gears have had it and as much as they have tried they cannot source new ones.
Any ideas here? I can go wreckers and look for other boxes but they are all going to be 25 years old or so.
Thanks
Joel

1. get a steering box off a wreck.
2. get cracking on a R&P setup.
3. Write a tech article on it.
4. Come and do my steering

Mate do you know if RA40 has same box as RA28?
If so i'd be interested in 1 of them.
Also, where did you get your quick ratio box from?
Thanks

Hmm, & I might be interested in the second one, & then you could prolly send them in one package to save postage.
How much would you be wanting?
Although I'd much rather one of those close ratio ones.

Hey guys, long time no see. Have a small problem with my steering. When you turn a corner the wheel doesn't go back to center properly. Could this be caused by a worn steering box? Can you still get some parts to rebuild them or is it easiest just to get a new one? And did someone mention custom rack and pinion? has it been done before?
thanks guys

Do you mean the steering wheel isn't centred when the wheels are pointing straight ahead? Or do you mean the car doesn't straighten itself after taking a corner? If the former, the steering rods need to be adjusted - easy job for a suspension shop. If the latter, you need a wheel alignment (castor specifically). Again, take it to a suspension shop.
