I'm contemplating building a 4a gte powered sprinter,
but need to know how realistic this set up would be in terms of drivability on a daily basis? Would it run OK off boost?

Yep, very do'able. My turboed Celica delivers 9-9.5L/100km, and thats in an older and larger engine, and heavier car. At 110Km/h there is a slight amount of boost going in, but not enough to kick in extra fuel, hence the good figures.
Drivability will also depend on turbo size, I recommend either a brass or ball bearing T28.

Those figures are not bad, what sort of power would the
ball bearing T28 give?

"At 110Km/h there is a slight amount of boost going in"
Um... does anyone else see the problem with this? Your car should not be under load or producing positive boost pressure at a cruise speed like this.

Um... I can not see a problem with that. Why cant his car be on boost at that speed??

depends on the car & engine. the engine will be under load to maintain a high speed like that, due to friction and air resistance.
we went down to the snow in my mates old n12 nissan exa - and when we stopped in canberra, he mentioned that hed been running on boost almost the whole way down, due to the wind. only a psi or 2, but still on boost. had a pretty glowing red turbo afte rthat too

my mate has an 86 gz... whatever soarer and wheather he is on boost or not depends on how far his foot is down , but doesnt boost also depend on the rpm, so if clint goode has standard diff ratios etc in an ae 86 he would be doing in excess of 3000 rpm at 110 so therefore i see no problem with a little bit of boost at "cruise" it also depends on how flat his foot is.
