The 3t-gte is a 1.8ltr, twin cam, 8 valve, turbo. makes around 160hp in stock form.
Mine came from a TA63 Celica (frontcut from jap).
It has a front mounted sump, so should fit the xmember in AE86 fine. As for mounts and stuff I dont know.
If you go to the 'Links' on the Toymods menu down the side, there is a web site there that lists all the toyota engines and their power figures.

7m-gte is not engineerable in the ae86 - too much displacement.

Yep 160HP standard with 7.5psi boost. They came from 82-83 Celica GT's, Corona GT's, and Carina GT's

Ooh interesting, Any disadvantages with this engine.
Would it be more worthwhile than a gze or a gze with a turbo conversion?
Is it a heavy engine?
Bah Im gunna go check the stats.. thnx !

3TGTE disadvantages:
Its physically bigger than the 4AGE (by quite a large amount!) and therefore heavier.
Parts are getting harder to source, and can be expensive
Stock turbo is far from an engineering masterpiece
Factory computer is a very old analogue fuel only design
Throttle body faces across the top of the motor, making plumbing for an intercooler a bit more difficult
Twin spark distributor makes it a pain in the ass to change to a front mounted throttle body, its bloody huge!
Cam chain drive system is noisier (and in my opinion less reliable) than the 4AG belt drive. (4AG has a non interference head so if you do bust a belt, no damage will be done)
3TG requires custom engine mounts to be fabricated.
Pistons WILL break if you do not have the engine management tuned perfectly. Detonation kills these engines very fast.
4AGTE/ZE disadvantages:
Difficult to source a strong RWD gearbox
Have to fabricate an exhaust manifold to mount a turbo
4AG advantages: Too many to list.
I am not biased, I have built and owned both packages in my car. To me the results are clear We are talking about nearly 10 years difference in engineering between these motors, but dont be discouraged, if you want a 3TGTE, they can be built to run reliably and make good power.
cheers
Phil

Yep, in a Sprinter, I'd go a 4A derivitive over a 3TGTE any day!
