you could do a burnout, that involves the least effort, although some cars can pull a 2 wheeler even with no LSD

if its fwd its easier to tell with the plates.. but i believe on rwd you have to look down at the back? or gearbox? like you can have an lsd coded engine but not gearbox/drive train

i think if you jack the car up and turn one wheel the opposite wheel is meant to turn the other way with one kind of lsd and with another kind of lsd they both turn the same way.
and i guess only one turns with no lsd, however i dont really know its just a vague memeory of something i once read
im sure someone who actually knows could clear this up.

jack up the back of the car (both wheels off the ground that is). turn one wheel by hand. if the other wheel spins in the same direction slowly, then it has an lsd. if it spins in the opposite direction, then it has an open diff.
this is all off the top of my head (i read it in fast fours ages ago) but i think its right.

yeah i've heard you jack it up and turn one wheel, in theory if the other spins in the opposite direction than you've got an lsd on your hands. Good Luck!!!

no mate, its the other way around, if they both spin in the SAME direction, then you MAY have an LSD (or a fu(ked open wheeler)

Yep, wheels must turn in the same direction for an LSD. An open centre diff can also do this if the Spider Gears have seized, but I have only ever seen this happen in Borg Warner diffs that haven't been moved in years. You can also take the oil fill plug out of the diff and look into it, but you must first know what you are looking for!
Code for LSD in Toyota diffs are T313 or T315, where:
T is the style or series of diff
31 is the ratio (this number will change dependant on the ratio)
3 is a 2 pinion LSD
5 is a 4 pinion LSD
Open centre diffs have 2 and 4 final numbers, and noone ever makes a note of retrofitted LSD's so keep an eye out for them!

I've checked by taking out the oil fill plug and have a friend turn the wheel(s) looking into the hole with a bright flashlight. you can see the spider gears if its open or you can see the springs/plates if its LSD. It's the fastest, most accurate way i know of. hth
