hey ppl. i have a TA22. and have found an 18R-GEU in good condition i was wondering if any of u could tell me if its a power gain fitting this inplace of the 2T.
how much power do the 2 engines pump out in factory trim?
how hard/easy is it to fit this engine as i will be doing it my self with the help of a mechinic friend?
what do i have to do to get a reliable setup for the EFI (fuel pumps, surge tanks ETC) as the 2T is a carby engine?
one last thing, is there a legal way to drive a non registered car on public rosds in QLD?
thanks for any help.

You can get a permit to drive an unregistered car for a day! You may have to get another for the second day! I belive the 18R is a bit of trouble to fit in a TA22!

You need to wait and find a 2T-GEU. The 18RGEU will be a bit wrong for that car. With the 2T-GEU you can keep the same gearbox and everything. 18RGEU is more trouble.

The 18R-GEU is around 130bhp from the factory, while the 2T is less than 100, so it's definitely a decent upgrade. Unfortunately there's not much space in a TA22 engine bay, and the 18R block is quite a bit longer than the 2T, so you're going to have all sorts of dramas putting it in.
As has already been suggested, you're better off getting a 2T-GEU as it will bolt right in and it's a pretty decent upgrade over the 2T. It's not hard to stroke it to 1.8 litres by using a 3T bottom end if you like. If you want an 18R-GEU, you're better off selling the TA22 and buying an RA23 - it will slot into one of those easily.
