I have know this to happen on other 162's and it has finally happenned to me and darn it I is irritating! I think it is stopping my cruise control from working too.
I unplugged and grounded the little switch on the bottom of the handbrake lever, still stayed on. I then unplugged the connection to see what would happen. STILL on. SO irritating.
Anyone know about this? - Thanks fellas!

Sounds like the fluid level sensor is at the back of the fluid reservoir. I bet it comes on when you brake or slow down after accelerating.

This happened to me once as well, it eventually just went away (not sure why - I think it may have been after I replaced the front brake pads) but I guess next time I'll have a look at the fluid level sensor

This fits the pattern for a low fluid level. When the new pads were fitted, they would have needed the piston in the caliper pushed back in to allow for the thicker pads. This would have pushed more fluid back into the reservoir and raised the level.

You could always just put a sticker over the light.

LOL, I actually seriously thought of that 'cause it was on all the way from Melbourne to Sydney and irritating the crap out of me.
Anyway, such an idiot. Thanks for all the help! I actually woudn't have thought of topping up the master cylinder, as it was like still half full, but the sensor must be fussy, and that is what it was!
Just added a few mls of brake fluid and bye bye light!
Thanks for all your awesome help fellas
